Afternoon Tea Experience with Queenie's Spot in San Antonio

Tea, Traditions, and Ties: A British Afternoon with Queenie's Spot

February 10, 20262 min read

Networking in San Antonio is always a blast, but this past weekend was particularly special. I had the pleasure of attending a mobile British Tea experience hosted by Queenie's Spot, and it was truly a "one-of-a-kind" afternoon.

From the moment I walked in, it was clear that Rosalind Reeder, the owner and founder of Queenie's Spot, has an incredible eye for detail. The decor was stunning, creating an authentic atmosphere that felt miles away from the everyday hustle of business ownership.

An Authentic Taste of Britain

This wasn't just "tea time"—it was a full sensory experience. We were treated to traditional British staples, including:

  • Fresh Scones & Crumpets: Perfectly prepared and authentic.

  • Cucumber Sandwiches: A classic afternoon tea essential.

  • Imported Tea: Rosalind actually imports her tea directly from Britain, and you can truly taste the difference in quality.

History on Afternoon Tea

More Than Just a Drink: The History of Tea

Rosalind shared the fascinating history behind afternoon tea, and I learned so much! She walked us through the origins of the tradition and cleared up a common misconception: the difference between Low Tea and High Tea.

While many people think "High Tea" is the fancy one, it was historically the working-class meal served at high tables. "Low Tea" (or Afternoon Tea) was the aristocratic tradition served on low parlor chairs and sofas. It’s those little details that made the event feel so educational and intentional.

Deepening Connections

What I loved most was how Rosalind used the tea service to facilitate conversation. She was a natural at initiating dialogue between all the ladies in attendance. It wasn't just about passing out business cards; it was about deepening existing relationships and getting to know the stories behind new faces in our local business community.

If you are looking for a unique way to host an event or just want to treat your team to something special, I cannot recommend Queenie's Spot enough.
